Entertainment and Sports Programming Network, ESPN, is a worldwide leader in live broadcast and distribution of comprehensive sports coverage for virtually all sports that are on-air, the Internet, or via mobile device. The ESPN West Coast facility is one of the major buildings within the LA Live experience, which is located in downtown LA and across the street from the Staples Center. Home of the popular show, Sports Center, the nearly 12,000 square foot studio includes two master control rooms, eight edit suites, three production control rooms, a newsroom, screening area, a music room, and voice over room for two studios.
OPM-Services, LLC designed, project managed, and installed this massive 16 room endeavor. As a pioneer in integrating the newest technology, one of ESPN’s LA studios is the first completely 1080P production facility. At the time of the installation, the LA Live project was one of the largest undertakings in the country with over 23,600 cables pulled. The major new equipment were a Sony MVS-8000G switcher, Calrec Sigma audio console new equip, and Quantel editing technology systems. The ESPN LA venue broadcasts and distributes sports programming on the ESPN, ESPN2 ESPN HD, ESPN2 HD and ESPN Desportes channels.
